Grant and Norwich part after poor run

Assistant Jim Duffy stepped in as caretaker manager of Norwich City last night as manager Peter Grant left the Coca-Cola Championship club by mutual consent.

A 1-0 defeat at fellow strugglers QPR on Monday night left them in the relegation zone, with just eight points from their opening 10 games.

Former Celtic midfielder Grant, 42, who succeeded the sacked Nigel Worthington a year ago, said: "It was a very difficult decision but in the end it was the right one for me and the club.

"The balls haven't bounced right for me over the last 12 months. I don't like being second best but it's a results-driven business."
