Grant in swoop for £16m Porto full-back Bosingwa

Porto today confirmed they have agreed to sell highly-rated right-back Jose Bosingwa to Chelsea for £16.2 million.

A statement on the club's official website said: "FC Porto have come to an agreement with Chelsea about a transfer of athlete Josi Bosingwa for 20.5million euros.

"The deal will be formalised once the player undergoes a medical."

Avram Grant has had a problem at right-back this season and is likely to ditch Juliano Belletti, who was signed for £4m from Barcelona only last summer.

Paulo Ferreira will stay as a fringe member of the squad after signing a new five-year contract.

The 25-year-old Bosingwa, who has won six caps for Portugal, has developed into one of the best right-backs in the game since he was brought to Porto from Boavista in 2004 by then Blues manager Jose Mourinho.
