Griffin flies Magpies nest

14 April 2012

Portsmouth have signed defender Andy Griffin from Newcastle.

The 25-year-old full-back has signed a four-year contract at Fratton Park after joining on a Bosman transfer.

Griffin is Pompey's first signing of the close season after they retained their Premiership status following a fabulous end to the campaign.

The move suggests that manager Harry Redknapp and chairman Milan Mandaric have patched up their differences as the former West Ham boss looks to consolidate the club's position as a Premiership club.
