Gullit still bitter over Chelsea

13 April 2012

Ruud Gullit has criticised former club Chelsea by declaring: "After I was sacked, it's been going downhill ever since for the fans."

Gullit, in London for tonight's World Sports Awards, admitted he was "bruised" by his dismissal from Stamford Bridge three years ago, when he was replaced by Gianluca Vialli.

The Dutchman, who won the FA Cup for Chelsea in 1997 and led them to second place in the Premiership before he left, again expressed his bitterness when talking about Vialli's similar departure amid rumours of dressing room unrest earlier this season.

"Well, if you live by the sword, you die by the sword," he said.

What Guldid not mention is the fact that, under Vialli, Chelsea won the European Cup Winners' Cup, FA Cup, Coca-Cola Cup and Super Cup, as well as reaching the Champions League quarter-finals.
