Harford in for Hatters

12 April 2012

Coca-Cola League One club Luton have appointed former striker Mick Harford as their new manager.

The Hatters on Wednesday terminated the contract of former boss Kevin Blackwell - along with his assistant Sam Ellis and coach John Carver - and joint administrator Brendan Guilfoyle has moved quickly to replace him, also naming Warren Neill as his assistant.

"I look forward to working with Mick and Warren," said Guilfoyle.

He added: "I believe that their appointment is another positive development for the football club and will be welcomed by Luton Town Football Club 2020 Limited (the administrators' preferred bidders to take over the club) and the fans."

Harford, who scored 93 goals in 217 appearances in two spells at Kenilworth Road, was caretaker manager at QPR earlier this season, and will have the former Hoops and Portsmouth defender Neill as his assistant.
