Harminson leads Durham charge

England paceman Steve Harmison kept Durham in contention for victory over Hampshire in Division One of the LV County Championship after a six-wicket haul at the Riverside.

The visitors resumed on 186 for six looking to extend their advantage but Harmison and Australian Callum Thorp claimed two wickets apiece as the bottom side added 70 to be dismissed for 256.

Harmison finished with figures of six for 122 and eight wickets from the match.

That left Durham requiring 294 to win and at lunch they had reached 21 for one at lunch.

Leaders Somerset were thankful for their last-wicket pair of Craig Kieswetter (67 not out) and Charl Willoughby (18) for putting on 38 against Yorkshire at Taunton.

That took them to 258 - 114 behind - and by the interval the visitors had extended their advantage to 190 having been nought for two having before Andrew Gale (54no) and Anthony McGrath (21no) guided them to 76 without further loss.

Nottinghamshire trail Lancashire by 139 runs with three first innings wickets remaining at Old Trafford.

Resuming on 148 for two, Mark Wagh fell six short of his century but Australian Adam Voges (51no) remains at the crease despite the loss of three cheap wickets.

Kent progressed to 157 for four against Sussex in their rain-affected at Canterbury, with Robert Key and James Tredwell top scoring with 30.
