Hauritz set to miss rest of series

Nathan Hauritz is unlikely to play any further part in Australia`s one-day series with England, Cricket Australia have confirmed.

The 29-year-old spinner dislocated his shoulder while fielding during Australia`s 46-run win in Hobart yesterday, and Xavier Doherty was on Saturday called up to cover him in the squad.

Hauritz is now being sent to see a specialist to assess the extent of his injury, with team physio Alex Kountouris admitting he is set to miss the five remaining matches with England, while his chances of playing in the World Cup are yet to be determined.

He said: "Nathan had scans following his shoulder dislocation. These scans are used to assess the amount of structural damage caused by the dislocation and will help guide the treatment of this injury.

"They have demonstrated moderate disruption of the supportive structures at the shoulder. We will now seek a specialist opinion to determine the next course of action.

"The treatment options include both conservative and surgical management. It is likely he will be unavailable for the remainder of the Commonwealth Bank Series and his availability for the ICC Cricket World Cup will be determined in the coming weeks."

Pace bowler Shaun Tait was another to pick up an injury in Tasmania, picking up a thigh problem, but Kountouris has not ruled him out of Sunday`s game in Sydney.

He added: "Shaun complained of some left upper thigh pain during last night's match. As a precaution he was advised to stop bowling and leave the field. He had scans this afternoon which have cleared him of any new and significant damage.

"He will be assessed over the next 12 hours to determine his management and availability for Sunday's match and the remainder of this series."

Mitchell Johnson has rejoined Australia`s squad following illness but will not play Sunday, while Peter Siddle has joined the team as a standby player.
