Healthy eating is Murray's next step towards first Grand Slam

Andy Murray today vowed to get fitter, faster and stronger in a bid to win his first Grand Slam title.

That means the British No1 will ditch his favourite burgers and turn to a new diet of rice and raw fish.

Murray, who leaves for a pre-season training camp in Florida on Thursday, revealed how he learned a vital lesson from his defeat by Roger Federer in the US Open Final in September.

The 21-year-old Scot, who reached a career-high fourth in the world rankings in 2008, said: "I don't think there is anything huge in my game that needs to be improved.

"I just need to make sure I'm physically stronger. At the US Open I was a little tired after my semi-final win over Rafael Nadal. I have to make sure that my recovery after a long match is better.

"In Florida, I'll be doing the sort of stuff I did at the end of last year but my base is going to be much better, so I should be able to run faster.

"I'll focus a lot on what I'm eating as well. I'll make sure I get enough protein in me so I can put on a bit of weight. I'll be eating a lot more sushi from now on."
