Henman eases into Copenhagen final

13 April 2012

Tim Henman beat Jan Siemerink in straight sets to reach the final of the Copenhagen Open.

The opening set went with serve through to the sixth game before the British number two broke his 30-year-old Dutch opponent and forced the issue again in game nine to take the set 6-3.

Henman, the tournament's top seed, continued where he had left off, moving into a 5-4 lead in the second set and had three match points in the next game.

However, Siemerink battled back and then both players held serve to send the match into a tie-break.

The Dutchman appeared to be hampered by a leg injury which casts a doubt over his appearance in the doubles semi-final later today and he could do little to prevent Henman clinching his place in the final with a 7/3 win.

The 26-year-old from Oxford, currently ranked 17 in this season's ATP Champions Race standings, will now meet fourth seed and defending champion Andreas Vinciguerra of Sweden.

The 19-year-old beat Russian Mikhail Youzhny 7-5 2-6 6-3 earlier.
