Henman: I tried a bit too hard

13 April 2012

Tim Henman could not hide his disappointment today after being knocked out of the Masters Series event in Toronto by beaten Wimbledon finalist David Nalbandian.

The British No1 failed to convert three match points and was made to pay for his mistake as the Argentinian booked his place in the quarter-finals with a 4-6, 7-6, 7-5 victory.

He said: "I'm obviously pretty disappointed. I'll just keep working hard." Henman took the first set and then led 6-3 in the second-set tie-break, only to lose it 9-7. The deciding set went with serve until Henman was broken in the 12th game.

"I should have won but there were definitely elements of my game that weren't working," added Henman. "There are times when I try a bit too hard. Perhaps I was a little overaggressive."
