Henman through despite struggle

14 April 2012

Tim Henman began his US Open build-up with a hard-fought second-round win at the Legg Mason Classic against qualifier Phillip King.

Henman, the British number two, had a break point early in the opening set but eventually lost it 7-3 on a tie-break.

The 31-year-old fought back in the second set, levelling matters, before clinching the third to secure a 6-7 6-3 7-5 victory.

Henman will play Janko Tipsarevic or Jan-Michael Gambill in the third round.
