Hill: I'm not racist

Dagenham & Redbridge manager Garry Hill today insisted he is not a racist and his club will not tolerate any form of prejudice.

Hill is at the centre of a race row after two Dagenham players alleged that he made a racist remark to an opponent during a Conference game with Telford.

Striker Mark Stein and defender Mark Smith both made transfer requests as a result of the claim made by Telford's Fitroy Simpson.

But, speaking for the first time about the incident, Hill said: "Everybody who knows me in football knows that I am not a racist.

"I have never been a racist. I have been very good friends with Paul Parker, the former England and Manchester United player, for many years and he would tell anyone that I am not a racist.

"In fact, I would not tolerate any form of racism at my club.

"I therefore categorically deny that I made any form of racist remark towards Fitzroy Simpson or any other person during or after the Telford match."
