Hodgson cited by RFU

12 April 2012

London Irish scrum-half Paul Hodgson has been cited for an alleged dangerous tackle during his team's Guinness Premiership defeat against Wasps.

Hodgson will appear before a Rugby Football Union disciplinary panel in London next Tuesday after being reported by independent citing officer John Byett following a tackle on Wasps wing Paul Sackey.

The decision to cite Hodgson comes after he was on the receiving end of a dangerous tackle in Irish's league opener against Harlequins 11 days ago, an incident that landed Quins' England centre Stuart Abbott a three-week ban.

And Hodgson is likely to be dealt with in similar fashion, given the RFU's determination to clamp down on such offences.
