British Masters champion Eddie Pepperell isn't shy about having a drink to celebrate his success, but one fan at last week's event got in ahead of time.

During Sky Sports' broadcast of the tournament, held this year at Walton Heath in Surrey and hosted by Justin Rose, one fan stole the show for a brief moment.

As presenters Nick Dougherty and Henni Zuel were dissecting the day's play from the 'Sky Zone' a fan strolled in between the pair and downed his pint in swift fashion, with his eyes fixed straight down the lens throughout.

Neither Dougherty or Zuel appeared to notice, but the fan certainly caught the eye of The Grove's PGA pro, who posted the clip on Instagram.

Sky Sports' sponsorship deal for the event, which returned to the European Tour in 2014, has come to an end and, as it stands, there is no new deal ot sponsor lined up to keep the British Masters on the Tour next season.

Host Justin Rose hailed the fans, who continued to turn out in wet and windy conditions last week, and said hit will be a shame to lose the even from the Tour.

“Dare I say it, there are so many events on the European Tour that shouldn’t be there, and these events with history are the ones that should be there,” Rose told the Mail on Sunday.

“I wonder if we should be focusing on condensing things slightly, and stressing quality over quantity.

“It’s such a shame when we lose events like this one, and we’ve seen it far too often with the loss of other traditional events like the European Open.

“These are the ones where the fans really come out in force in the UK and support them and they create the type of atmosphere which makes it such a pleasure for the players to compete.”
