Holloway delight at upset

Ian Holloway praised his new-look back four after last night's 2-0 win at Sheffield United.

A first-half brace from Martin Rowlands gave QPR a surprise away win against last year's semi-finalists, taking Rangers into the third round for the first time in eight years.

Rowlands may have got the goals but the manager singled out his makeshift defence. Terrell Forbes replace the cup-tied Arthur Gnohere in central defence and Holloway was pleased with the way they handled a team who had scored ten in their past two home games.

He said: "I'm delighted, but want to single out the back four. We only trained together for 40 minutes on Monday, but you would have thought they had played together for a long, long time. They closed them down, worked hard and didn't get involved in any dramas."

Holloway also reassured Steve Palmer he has a future at the club. The Rangers captain was dropped to the bench to make way for the returning Marc Bircham, but Holloway said: "Steve is is still my club captain. It's good that I've got a strong squad to select from."
