Holloway puzzled by ref's approach

14 April 2012

Kevin McLeod's red card took the shine off last night's 2-0 win at Wrexham, according to Queens Park Rangers manager Ian Holloway.

The Rangers winger was dismissed for a second bookable offence and Holloway was unimpressed with the performance of the referee.

He said: "It's never easy when you're a man down. It was a harsh decision and the referee hasn't been strong.

"He told me that Paul Furlong would be sent off in the second half for persistent fouling so I had to take him off. I've never heard anything like that before."

Goals from Marcus Bean and Martin Rowlands gave Rangers their first away win of the season which moves them up to third in the table. Holloway was delighted with the performance, particularly that of goalscorer Bean, who was making only his second start of the season.

Holloway added: "Marcus is staking his claim and wants to play. He had a good game last week and was my man of the match last night."
