How Chelsea players rated against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge...

Petr Cech

The Czech Republic international may have been pipped to the Player of the Year Award, but has been rarely beaten this season. Great saves from John Arne Riise and Milan Baros. 8/10

Glen Johnson

Would not last five minutes under the icy glaze of Anne Robinson and is by far Chelsea's weakest link, but recovered from his early nerves to put in a solid performance. 6

John Terry

Tested for pace late on following the introduction of Djibril Cisse but came through unscathed. Went close to scoring at the other end with a second-half header. 8

Ricardo Carvalho

Usually the perfect complement to Terry's aggression but not his best evening, easily beaten in the first half by Riise and Luis Garcia. 6

William Gallas

The Frenchman does not enjoy playing left-back but you would never guess, very solid at the back and created a good chance for Frank Lampard. 7

Claude Makelele

Gave the ball away more in the first 10 minutes than he has done during all of this season, but then recovered well to keep Chelsea in the game. 7

Frank Lampard

Slow to start and missed the game's best chance when he blasted over the bar. Found himself crowded out of the midfield by Igor Biscan and Xabi Alonso. 7

Joe Cole

Chelsea's most creative outlet causing Djimi Traore no end of problems down the right, but for once his shooting boots eluded him with a weak left-footed effort early on. 8

Eidur Gudjohnsen

Playing in a more advanced role until the introduction of Arjen Robben but equally effective, creating space with his intelligent movement and clever link-up play. 7

Tiago

Surprisingly preferred to Arjen Robben the quiet Portuguese more than justified his appearance, keeping possession immaculately and getting forward well. 7

Didier Drogba

Worked tirelessly throughout but given little room for manoeuvre by the magnificent Jamie Carragher, slashed at his best chance after just 13 minutes. 7

The substitutes

Arjen Robben (Tiago, 59): Still not fit enough to make the starting line up after that broken foot. Embarked on a mesmeric run with his first touch of the ball but contributed little thereafter. 5
Mateja Kezman (Cole, 78): Booked for a reckless challenge in his first minute on the pitch. 5

The manager

Jose Mourinho: Hand forced by injuries to Robben and Duff, but kept the tie alive. 7
