Nico Rosberg could win his first Formula One Drivers' Championship in Mexico this weekend.

Lewis Hamilton cut Rosberg's lead in the standings to 26 points after emerging victorious in America but it is still very much advantage to the German driver with three races to go.

Rosberg will clinch the title if he wins the Mexican GP, which is taking place during the Day of the Dead festival, and Hamilton retires or fails to finish within the points.

Such a scenario would leave Rosberg 51 points ahead of his rival with a total of just 50 left to compete for.

If Rosberg wins and Hamilton finishes in 10th then the former would also claim the title by virtue of his superior total of race wins this season, which would then stand at 10 while Hamilton can only achieve a maximum of nine.

"Of course it's intense, but at the same time there is an easy-going side," Rosberg told the BBC of the pair's ongoing rivalry.

"It has been a great season so far which has put me in this position. It is exciting to be in the championship battle with Lewis towards the end of the season."

Hamilton has been plagued by engine problems throughout the season but is determined to end on a high.

"We have had our frustrations already this year. We prepare for whatever we face.

"Me and my guys are working as hard as we can. As long as we have done everything in our power to get the best result, then we can go into our winter with a peaceful heart," said the 31-year-old.
