Hughes set for Palace debut

Crystal Palace manager Steve Kember is confident that Northern Ireland international Michael Hughes will be able to play against Burnley at Turf Moor tomorrow.

"We hope to finalise the deal and register him in time to play" said Kember. "He will be a great asset to us. He is a wide player with immense experience."

The arrival of Hughes would compensate for the absence of Haydn Mullins, who is suspended for the first three games, and former Republic of Ireland right-back Curtis Fleming.

"He (Fleming) was injured during pre-season and he is still a week away from full fitness," said Kember.

"Otherwise I have a full strength squad from which to pick. The mood is a confident one. We have had a good preseason and I am happy."
