Hughes: We must focus

14 April 2012

Aaron Hughes insists Northern Ireland must get back to basics or they will suffer in Poland tonight.

An error-strewn second-half display saw them lose 4-0 to England in Saturday's Group Six qualifier.

"We have got to be fully focused and cut out the errors," said the Northern Ireland captain.

"It is important we get ourselves back on track but only time will tell if we are getting the mind-set right after conceding a goal."

Manager Lawrie Sanchez said: "If we are to get a good result we need to go out and play like we did in the first half against England for the full 90 minutes."

Sanchez is set to recall Aston Villa midfielder Steven Davis as Damien Johnson is suspended.

Sheffield Wednesday striker James Quinn may partner David Healy up front after returning from suspension, while Chris Baird of Southampton has recovered from a stomach virus that laid him low after the England match.
