Hutchinson blasts Zidane fee

13 April 2012

Chelsea managing director Colin Hutchinson claims the £48million Real Madrid are reported to be offering Juventus for Zinedine Zidane is "crazy money".

Hutchinson has questioned the way in which fees have risen with the nature of the transfer system still in doubt.

He said: "The new transfer system is set to be approved in the next few days by Uefa, this weekend in fact and it was thought it would bring transfer fees down."

He added: "Yet right at the time it's about to be signed the transfer fees seem to have shot up."

Speaking on the club's official website, Hutchinson added that he felt no Premiership side would ever splash out such a huge sum on one player.

"Zidane is widely regarded as probably the best player in Europe at the moment but £48million, if correct, for a 29-year-old seems crazy money.

"I can't see an English club ever spending that amount of money on one player," he said.
