Hutchinson excited by next role

Chelsea managing director Colin Hutchinson will become a consultant for player management company Proactive Sports Management when he leaves the club in May.

Hutchinson, who has been at Stamford Bridge for 15 years, said: "This is a change of direction that excites me. The approaches from clubs and agencies alike have been very flattering.

"Just as some 20 powerful clubs basically dominate European football, the agency world of the next five years will polarise into 15 to 20 major operators. Proactive will be part of this elite.

"My role will be as consultant. I don't intend to register as an agent. This will give me the flexibility to help clubs that might want advice in areas other than players." Meanwhile, striker Mikael Forssell is content to continue as a super sub providing it helps Chelsea claim a Champions League place.

The Finland striker has been overshadowed by the exploits of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Eidur Gudjohnsen but has still contributed nine goals as a substitute this season. He also scored last night in Finland's 4-1 win over Portugal.

Forssell is desperate to play a part in the Easter games against relegationthreatened Derby and Ipswich.

He said today: "I've made no secret of the fact I want to be starting more, but at the moment I'm happy to contribute to the team in any way I'm asked to.

"I don't want to write us off from qualifying for the Champions League yet. We never want to give up because it is where Chelsea belong. I'm confident we'll be in Europe next season."
