Ian McGeechan courts Harlequins

Ian McGeechan could replace Dean Richards as the Harlequins director of rugby - if the disgraced London club stay clear of further controversy.

Although the former London Wasps chief has not, as reported, been offered a contract by Quins, McGeechan is interested in succeeding Dean Richards, who resigned in the wake of Bloodgate. McGeechan's CV has arrived at the Twickenham Stoop, where he is seen as the outstanding candidate to help repair the club's reputation.

However, Quins are being investigated by the Rugby Football Union over claims of four other fake blood injuries and it is understood the former Lions head coach will not consider joining until this has been cleared up.
