Inter reject Sven's bid for Colombian as Eastlands work permit application for Iraqi rejected

Inter Milan say they have rejected an approach from Manchester City for Colombian centre half Nelson Rivas. Sven-Goran Eriksson targeted the 24-year-old as cover for Richard Dunne and Micah Richards, but Inter head coach Roberto Mancini does not want Rivas to go because Walter Samuel is out injured.

There was further bad news for City as they failed to land a work permit for Iraqi midfielder Nashat Akram, 23.
