Italy boss Mancini declares that he should be manager of Wales

Italian coach Roberto Mancini jokes that he should be considered as the next manager of Wales.

The Inter Milan boss - preparing his side for tomorrow's Champions League clash at Liverpool - was being quizzed on the impact his countrymen are having as international managers.

Fabio Capello is now running England, while Giovanni Trapattoni has just been appointed as manager of the Republic of Ireland.

Mancini, asked why the Italians produce such good coaches, said: "We have a fine structure to teach our people to coach at a high level.

"Capello and Trapattoni will do very well with their new countries, so maybe I should be appointed as the next manager of Wales!"
