Jamie Donaldson chainsaw injury: Ryder Cup golfer reveals picture of nasty wound

Welsh golfer Jamie Donaldson is expected to be sidelined until next month after he injured his left hand during an accident with a chainsaw.

The 40-year-old, who secured a crucial point during Europe's 2014 Ryder Cup victory, required several stitches to repair a sizeable wound on his little finger.

Donaldson shared a photograph of the gruesome injury on his official Twitter account and is likely to be out of action until February's Dubai Desert Classic.

He wrote: "So folks, in my time off decided to have a fight with a chainsaw and lost! Oops!"

Donaldson, who was raised in Macclesfield, has three wins on the European Tour and also won the Thailand Golf Championship last December.

Surprisingly, he is not the only golfer to have suffered a chainsaw-related injury in recent years.

Two-time Open champion Greg Norman was also fortunate not to lose his left hand in 2014 after a gardening accident.
