Jansen eyes October return

13 April 2012

Blackburn's Matt Jansen could be back in action in October, three months ahead of schedule, after suffering a life-threatening head injury on holiday.

Jansen, who was in a coma for four days, has returned to training and has revealed he intends to start heading the ball properly again next week.

"Last week I started training fully for the first time, before then the doctor was scared of a clash of heads," he said.

Jansen was on holiday in Italy when his motorbike was hit by a taxi. Doctors said it might be the New Year before he played again, but Jansen said: "The latest target is the beginning of October - the doctor says I am a quick healer."
