Jensen adds to Curbishley's problems

13 April 2012

Charlton have suffered another setback after learning that midfielder Claus Jensen has been ruled out of action for another month.

Manager Alan Curbishley, facing an injury crisis with 10 first-team players under treatment, had been hoping his Danish star would resume training this week. However, Jensen has still not recovered from a foot injury sustained preseason and has been told to rest for a further four weeks.

Curbishley said: "We thought Claus had picked up nothing worse than ache on the sole of his foot but he has not recovered like we hoped he would.

"He was supposed to start training but the foot is still not right and he is going to have rest for at least another month." There was better news for Curbishley from Swedish forward Matt Svensson, who hopes to resume training in the next month.

Svensson suffered knee ligament damage a week before the season began and was expected to be missing for three months.

But the Swede said today: "The injury is healing nicely and I hope to start training again in three weeks or so."

Meanwhile, Charlton have denied any interest in signing Rangers defender Scott Wilson.

"At no point have I, or the club, made an enquiry about Wilson," Curbishley said.
