Jimmy thanks fans

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink today expressed his sadness at leaving Chelsea.

The 32-year-old has been released from the final year of his contract and said: "I'd like to thank the Chelsea fans for their support during my time at the club. I've had four great years here and wanted to stay but it wasn't possible.

"I didn't want to leave but these things happen and there's no bad feeling. The club have been very fair to me and I wish them all the best."

Hasselbaink scored 87 goals in 177 appearances for Chelsea after his £15million signing from Atletico Madrid by Gianluca Vialli.

Several clubs are rumoured to be interested in the former Leeds United frontman including SPL champions Celtic, while his agent Humphry Nijman has also revealed he has had offers from Japan for his client.
