John joins Sunderland

12 April 2012

Sunderland have completed the signing of Stern John from Coventry on a two-and-a-half-year deal.

It emerged the Trinidad and Tobago international striker was in talks with the Black Cats as Roy Keane looked to add strength to his forward ranks

Keane said: "We agreed a deal over the weekend for Stern John and we are trying to finalise that. We are looking for somebody with a physical presence up front."

John underwent a medical on Wearside on Monday morning and becomes Keane's sixth January recruit.

He joins countrymen Carlos Edwards and Dwight Yorke at the Stadium of Light.
