Jol gives Gazza tag to Yeates

Martin Jol believes there is a strong comparison between emerging forward Mark Yeates and former Tottenham hero Paul Gascoigne.

The 20-year-old made his first appearance at White Hart Lane as a second-half substitute in Saturday's 2-1 FA Cup win against Brighton and caught the eye with his mazy runs.

The Spurs head coach said: "I think he should have scored at least one goal. He has great feet.

"He's looking a bit like Paul Gascoigne with all the tricks he has on the ball.

"The only problem is that he is lightweight. We will put him in the gym once a week to get him a bit stronger but he is one of the most talented players we have."

Yeates, who has had loan spells with Brighton and Swindon, was "delighted" to be involved in his first senior start for Spurs this season but would have been less happy after playing in last night's reserve team match against Southampton.

It resulted in a 5-0 defeat for Spurs but new signings Emil Hallfredsson and David Limbersky both played for the full 90 minutes.
