Jol sets Berbatov goal challenge

12 April 2012

Tottenham manager Martin Jol has challenged Bulgaria striker Dimitar Berbatov to improve his goal tally in the Premiership.

Berbatov scored for the 22nd time this season in the 2-0 win over Charlton on Monday night, but only 11 of his goals have been in the league.

"I think Dimitar can score 20 in the Premiership," said the Dutchman. "There are others who can do it, not a lot, but I feel Dimitar is as talented."

He added: "In Germany, he averaged 20 goals in a season and that is not an easy league."

Former Addicks striker Jermain Defoe came off the bench to seal the win, which keeps Spurs on course for UEFA Cup qualification.
