Jones takes five

Glamorgan fast bowler Simon Jones today went a long way towards proving his fitness for the forthcoming Test tour of the West Indies.

Jones claimed five for 57 as England A dismissed Tamil Nadu for 333 on the third morning of their four-day game in Chennai. That gave England a lead of 35 runs, which Scott Newman and Kadeer Ali doubled before lunch.

Meanwhile, Australian batsman Mark Waugh today announced he is to retire next month. The 38-year-old, who quit international cricket in 2002, said: 'I think the time is right to go now.'
