Juventus suffer pain in Spain

13 April 2012

Edgar Davids was sent off for the second time in this season's Champions League as Juventus slumped to a 2-0 defeat against Deportivo La Coruna in Spain.

The Dutchman was shown two yellow cards within the space of 30 seconds for his repeated protests over referee Anders Frisk's decision not to award a free-kick.

The substitute had only played for 28 minutes when he was sent off. Spanish international Diego Tristan put Deportivo in front with a diving header from Victor Sanchez's cross after eight minutes.

Djalminha headed the second in the 77th-minute to put Deportivo at the top of Group D with Arsenal in second.

In Group C, Real Madrid booked their place in the quarter-finals with a 2-1 win at Porto, giving them maximum points from four games. Panathinakos are second, five points behind, after a 2-1 win against Sparta Prague.
