Kelly and Ellen give Britain a double

Kelly Holmes collected another award for her bulging trophy cabinet last night when she was named Laureus world sportswoman of the year.

Britain's double Olympic gold medallist collected her award from actor Woody Harrelson at a glittering ceremony in Estoril, Portugal.

Ellen MacArthur, who sailed solo around the world in record time, completed an impressive double for Britain when she was named world alternative sportsperson of the year.

Tennis star Roger Federer was named sportsman of the year and there was a special award for Italian Formula One driver Alessandro Zanardi, who returned to the track after an accident in which he lost both legs, when he received the comeback of the year prize.
