Kicking King is not for sale, says Taaffe

Kicking King was cut from 6-1 to 4-1 favourite for the Stan James King George VI Chase by the sponsors today.

And the rising star of the Irish chasing scene is not for sale at any price after his trainer Tom Taaffe reported that a big money offer was made for Kicking King just hours after his impressive success in yesterday's John Durkan Memorial Chase at Punchestown.

Taaffe, speaking at a press morning designed to promote Kempton's Boxing Day showpiece, revealed that he received a call last night inquiring as to whether Kicking King was on the market.

"Have a nice day," was his polite response to the query and, in the probable absence of Tingle Creek Chase winner Moscow Flyer, the improving sixyearold is now clear favourite for the King George with all the major bookmaking firms.

"The dream is to have a horse like this and his owner Conor Clarkson has no intention of selling him," he said.

"He's developing into a real flagship horse for the yard and Kempton should suit him as his jumping is a big asset and they will go a real good gallop."
