Knights enjoying new team ethic

The London Knights start their Superleague home programme against the Belfast Giants at the London Arena tonight.

The Knights were originally scheduled to host Sheffield (tonight) and Newcastle on Sunday but those two games have been cancelled to allow both those teams extra time to assemble a squad.

With their squad having been together for over a month now, London have no such worries and the benefit of such forward planning was evident in their season opener last Saturday, when they came away from Belfast's Odyssey Arena with a 9-3 victory.

The assistant coach Paul Rushforth was on the scoresheet in Belfast and he is pleased with the team's start.

We're playing really well together," he said.

"In practice we're snapping the puck around and we're looking real good," added Rushforth .

This is Rushforth's third season with the Knights and he can see a different, more together, squad emerging.

"Our team is so close it's unbelievable. All the guys go out for dinner together whereas for the last two years it hasn't been like that. There's a new atmosphere and everyone's happy."

London will be without Dave Struch for almost a month after he suffered a knee injury last weekend.
