Koppel reassures top players

13 April 2012

Chairman Charles Koppel met Wimbledon's squad yesterday to reassure his leading players they will not be sold while they still have a chance of winning promotion to the Premiership.

The club, who are six points off a play-off spot, were reported to have offered captain Kenny Cunningham on loan to play-off rivals Millwall this week, and midfielders Kevin Cooper and Trond Andersen have recently turned down moves to West Brom and Birmingham respectively.

But Koppel seems to have changed his tune and midfielder Neal Ardley said: "The chairman made it clear he would not let one of the main first-team players go while we're so close to a play-off place. Things might change in the summer."

Striker David Connolly starts a four-game ban and misses tomorrow's game at Grimsby so Neil Shipperley will play.
