Korzeniowski makes it a troika of golds

Robert Korzeniowski won a third successive Olympic 50-kilometre walk title in Athens this morning.

Korzeniowski, 36, the most successful race walker of all time, finished the gruelling race in a time of three hours 38 minutes 46 seconds.

World record holder Denis Nizhegorodov finished in second place, recording a time of 3hrs 42mins 50secs.

His Russian team-mate Aleksey Voyevodin followed him home after overtaking Yu Caohong of China just outside the Olympic Stadium.

Voyevodin, a two-time World Cup winner, claimed the bronze medal in a time of 3hrs 43mins 44secs.
