Krige is cleared of biting

13 April 2012

South African captain Corne Krige has been cleared of a biting charge during his team's 40-21 defeat by New Zealand in Saturday's Tri-Nations match.

An independent citing commissioner laid the charge that Krige had allegedly bitten New Zealand's Scott Robertson late in the first half of the match.

But the SANZAR Judicial Committee found there was no case to answer after taking evidence from Krige, Robertson, who said he had not been bitten, and from Caleb Ralph, who said he had not seen any biting.

The result means Krige will now be available for selection for next weekend's Tri-Nations clash with Australia.
