Langer's an easy Ryder after win

13 April 2012

Bernhard Langer beat Warren Bennett at the first hole of a sudden-death play-off to capture his third Dutch Open title and with it secure his place in this year's European Ryder Cup team.

Both players finished on 15-under-par 269 as the German caught Bennett with three birdies in the last four holes for a five-underpar 66.

Langer will take two weeks off before playing in the US PGA Championship, starting on 16 August.

Australian Ian Stanley, meanwhile, beat New Zealand left-hander Bob Charles in a sudden-death play-off to win the British Senior Open at Royal County Down in Northern Ireland.
