Late winner gives Wycombe victory

Both teams rested key players ahead of big games next week and this match was settled in the first half hour.

Silvain Wiltord's sixth goal in four FA Cup games after just 75 seconds had Arsenal ahead, the Frenchman turning in a low Robert Pires cross.

Tony Adams headed home an Ashley Cole corner four minutes later to make it 2-0 and the game was effectively over after 36 minutes when Pires brought down a superb Wiltord pass before shooting home.

Blackburn had lost just once in their last 19 games in their charge to promotion but struggled to keep pace and their best chance came even before Arsenal had scored when Marcus Bent headed over the bar.

Jason McAteer had a second half effort ruled out for handball.

Second division Wycombe held their own for the first half and then stunned their premier league hosts five minutes after the break when defender Paul McCarthy headed in a long free kick by Steve Brown.

Leicester are sixth in the premier league while Wycombe, missing six injured forward players, are 16th in the second division and had never previously gone beyond the third round.

Leicester equalised in the 68th minute when substitute Darren Eadie crossed for Muzzy Izzet to score from close range.

But Roy Essandoh headed the winner deep into injury time.

Villa won only their second league game in 10 thanks to two goals by Julian Joachim.

Ipswich went ahead after 30 minutes when Alun Armstong held off a challenge from Gareth Southgate and saw the ball spin over the line.

Joachim levelled for Villa in the 52nd minute, skipping through a series of tackles before knocking the ball in and then hit the winner 19 minutes from time.
