Ledley rebuffs Leeds approach

Adrian Curtis13 April 2012

Ledley King today told Leeds to forget any hopes of prising him away from White Hart Lane.

Leeds manager David O'Leary is believed to be lining up a £10 million bid for Tottenham's England under-21 defender, but King was handed a three-year extension to his contract at the end of last season.

King said today:"Of course I am flattered to be linked with a club like Leeds but I want to stay at Spurs. I have got no problems at this club and I am not in any rush to go anywhere else.

"I signed a new contract last season that keeps me here for five years and I don't see any reason to move. I try not to take any notice of speculation."

The prospect of King and Rio Ferdinand playing together in the heart of the Leeds defence is tempting for O'Leary but Spurs manager Glenn Hoddle will not entertain the idea of allowing the youngster to leave.

Hoddle said: "David can do whatever he wants, but Ledley is not for sale.

"He is playing superbly at the moment and I know that Sven-Goran Eriksson is watching his progress."
