Lee can’t wait to jump to it after his injury hell

Graham Lee is set to return to race riding this week after being given the all-clear by the BHA's chief medical adviser Dr Michael Turner.

Lee has had a miserable time in 2008, suffering a broken jaw that forced him to miss the Cheltenham and Aintree festivals before making a return only to sprain his wrist in June.

On returning from that injury, the stable jockey to Ferdy Murphy had a nasty fall at Hexham in July and has been signed off with concussion ever since.

However, the 33-year-old has come through several neurological tests and will make his return at Hexham on Friday, having ridden out for Murphy for the past month.

He said: "I am feeling 100 per cent. I'm fully fit, the batteries are recharged and I can't wait to get going again.

"I would have liked to be riding at Sedgefield tomorrow but there was nothing for me, so hopefully I will be back at Hexham on Friday.

"Obviously, it has got me down to have missed so much of the year but I'm just looking forward to getting among the winners again."
