Levein intrigued by Brazil clash

Craig Levein is looking to educate himself in Scotland's friendly against Brazil at the Emirates Stadium.

The star-studded South Americans have not lost to Scotland in nine meetings and are strong favourites to extend that run in north London despite Scotland's impressive form in recent months. Levein admits to being "intrigued" as to how his players will cope against some of the best players in the world.

"It is a friendly match and as such it doesn't carry the same intensity as a competitive game," he said. "It brings a different type of feeling. It is a real education for me to watch the players to see how they respond to this challenge. And on the back of it, we don't have any points to play for."

Levein added: "It is more about looking to continue our progress, that is the important thing for me. The progress has been good and the players are playing well at their clubs. So I'm intrigued and interested myself to see how the game pans out."

Scotland go into the match on the back of 3-0 wins over both the Faroe Islands and Northern Ireland, and also took confidence from the narrow 3-2 defeat to world champions Spain in their Euro 2012 qualifying clash at Hampden last October.

"We tested ourselves against the best team in the world (Spain) last October and came out of that match with a lot of positive feelings," said Levein.

"Since then we have played two matches - admittedly not against teams of the quality of Brazil - but I think it is another great test for us and I am relishing the fixture."

Despite his desire for what would be a morale-boosting victory, Levein is mulling over the prospect of giving as many players as possible some game time.

"I do have some players who I have to look at," he said. "There are certain factors, like who has played a lot of football recently, so I might look to take one or two players off if necessary.

"The other factor is, there are players here on this trip for experience and if I could enhance that experience by giving them 10 or 15 minutes on the pitch to savour the atmosphere, that would enable them to feel more comfortable next time. Again, that is something I will consider."
