Lewington lacks striking options

13 April 2012

Ray Lewington today admitted he will not be able to sign any new players to ease his team's scoring problems. Watford, who work to a tight transfer budget, are without a point or a goal from their opening three matches.

After the 2-0 defeat at Sunderland, manager Lewington said: "We didn't look like we were capable of scoring apart from a little spell we had at the end. "We looked lightweight and we've got to address it. We can't do anything transfer market-wise, so it's got to be from us."

"It was a disappointing result, but also a disappointing performance, which is the most annoying thing. We played very well in the first two games and got nothing for it, at Sunderland we didn't deserve anything.

Next three League games: 30 Aug, Gillingham (H); 6 Sep, Cardiff (A); 13 Sep, Millwall (H)

Results this season: L0-2, L0-1, L0-1.
