Lewington looks for cover

Ray Lewington wants to sign a central midfielder on loan to cover for Brynjar Gunnarsson.

The Icelandic midfielder did not join his Watford team-mates on their four-day break to Portugal after picking up a knee injury that will keep him out for three weeks. "I'll be looking for loan cover, almost certainly," manager Lewington said.

"We've not got too many options in the centre of midfield and we're short on experience if Gav [Mahon] and Bryn aren't playing."

Meanwhile, Paul Jones has extended his loan spell at Vicarage Road for another month while first-choice goalkeeper Richard Lee recovers from a cheekbone injury.
