13 April 2012

Rafael Benitez remains hopeful of signing Gabriel Heinze, despite Manchester United's refusal to sell the Argentine to their fiercest rivals.

Liverpool believe the left back, 29, wants to join them and claim his agent has a letter from United saying he can join any club willing to pay £6million.

Real Madrid have revived their interest and Juventus and Newcastle are also tracking the player whom Sir Alex Ferguson expects to leave.

United's boss said: "Gaby's agent has advised us that he wants to move on. I am not too sure about that and we do not have a concrete offer but there is momentum regarding his next move, even if nothing is close right now."

Fernando Torres is lined up to make his Liverpool debut tonight against Werder Bremen.
