Ljungberg and Olof training brawl

Paul Thomson13 April 2012

Freddie Ljungberg and Swedish team-mate Olof Mellberg were involved in an amazing training ground brawl this morning.

Ljungberg, identified by Sven-Goran Eriksson as Sweden's danger man in next week's World Cup opener against England, was scythed down by Aston Villa's Mellberg.

Following the tackle the furious Arsenal star ran at the defender, grabbed him and the two players started wrestling and fell to the ground.

The pair had to be separated and Ljungberg was restrained by Celtic's Henrik Larsson. The midfielder later calmed down and signed autographs for hundreds of screaming Japanese fans.

Ljungberg, who had been suffering from a back injury and missed training yesterday, said: "If one player has been making tackles like that you have to respond. It happened a few times. You can't tolerate that, but it's forgotten now."
