13 April 2012

London basketball clubs Towers and Leopards booked their places in the semi-finals of the ntl National Cup with wins over Manchester Giants and Newcastle Eagles respectively.

Towers felled Giants 70-61 at the Aston Villa Leisure Centre in Birmingham with Jerry Hester top-scoring with 16 points to give coach Nick Nurse victory over his former side.

Justin Phoenix scored 22 points for Giants, leading all scorers in the game.

Leopards outscored Newcastle 103-100 in a pulsating quarter-final, winning it thanks to a Rashod Johnson three-pointer with 27 seconds remaining.

Johnson's winner came after a great move by Newcastle's TJ Walker, who stole the ball and scored at the other end to give Eagles a 100-99 advantage.

Johnson led all scorers with 30 points for the winning team.
